The 2018 Field Day is on April 25th and our host is Culpeper County Parks and Recreation at Culpeper Sports Complex 16358 Competition Drive, Culpeper, VA 22701.  This is a one day event that includes recertification for commercial pesticide applicators (3A, 3B, 10, and 60) and nutrient management planners (1 CEU).   The morning program is our field day program and includes many hands-on demonstrations.  Attendees that would like recertification for NMP will need to attend the morning program.  Pesticide applicator recertification requires attending the morning program and the afternoon portion at Lenn Park 18063 Stevensburg Road, Culpeper VA 22701. (Approximately 10 min. from the first location.)

7:30 – 8:30 AM Registration and Recertification Sign-in.  Breakfast provided by Luck Ecosystems.

 8:30–9:20 AM Dormant bermudagrass establishment.  (Sponsored by Trinity Turf) This in field presentation will detail the practical tips for bermudagrass establishment from either seed and/or sprigs.  This presentation will outline the importance and options in pest control at establishment and beyond for improving application techniques and the quality and health of the bermudagrass as well as grow-in fertility programs.   T-2, T-4, T-5, T-6, T-7 (50 min)

9:30 AM – 12:00 PM Small group breakout sessions (45 min each)

 I. Shop, Storage and Innovations – Unique tools for managing ball and other sports fields.  Discussion of efficient storage solutions for equipment.  Overview of pesticide application techniques and equipment for efficient calibration for small scale applications.  T-1, T-3, T-4 (45 min)

 II. Weed I.D. & Control Options –A weed walk offering hands-on tips for identification of common and troublesome weeds in both turf and landscape bed situations and how this relates to pesticide choice, application timing, and selection.  T-5, T-6, T-7 (45 min)
